It goes without saying that each room in your home will have slightly different lighting needs. With your home office you’ll want to be as far as possible from the seedy, dim look of your romantic bedroom or chill living room. Shades are a great way to control the amount of light in a room while changing the colour or temperature of the light. Try a shade in a light linen for the home office: plenty of light but nothing glary that might make screens hard to read. A modern shade in this style is a good choice: simple and sleek, it certainly looks the business.

In the bedroom why not try out a coloured LED bulb? Red will certainly look romantic, especially with a vintage 60s style shade in orange or yellow. Try this combination in overhead lighting so the whole room gets this ambiance. You can do something similar in the living room using incandescent-style bulbs, which have a very warm, golden feel--just the thing for cozy nights in. Try these with veneered wooden shades on a copper floor lamp: an old school look that’s extremely inviting.
