With all this digital noise surrounding us, it seems we have forgotten the treasured art form of letter writing. Take it back to the 20th century and go analog, where messages surfed the postal waves and daily essentials included: pens, paper and notebooks (yes, we get the irony in this being typed on the interweb).
Whether it’s back to school time or you’re on the constant work grind, any 21st century person should be well equipped with writing and general office materials. Not only that, they should be equipped with the sassiest, funkiest writing and general office materials they can find.
From Martha and Hepsie’s mischievous magpie notebook to Pobble & Ping’s shimmering gold pencils with the word ‘Queen’ embossed onto them, let your stationery do the talking and be the envy of your classroom or workspace.
All our stationery bits and bobs are delivered with fast shipping, so get all the parts necessary to write the most lavish greeting card without worrying about postage fees creeping up. We recommend Sparrow and Wolf’s luxurious gold blank greeting cards to write the message in, Pobble & Ping’s wooden pencils with different the name of different alcohol spirits embossed on to write the message with, and Martha and Hepsie’s heart and camera packaging tape to make sure the message is delivered safe and sound.
You should always be yourself, but you should also be aware of your surroundings. You might be a sassy lassy with a penchant for sparkles, glitter and gin-based decor, but it probably isn’t best to unleash this side of you during important business meetings. Make sure your stationery matches the vibes by following these rules below:
If you’re trying to be professional, or you’re not entirely sure whether it will give the wrong impression if your pencils say ‘gin’ and ‘vodka’ on them - then play it safe with Kate Moby’s sophisticated blue notebooks complete with delicate line drawings of beech leaves, or BerinMade’s luxe green striped notepad. Basically, bold monochromatic colours and elegant minimalist drawings are great design options if you’re trying to give off a suave look.
Or, if you work in creative industries or your clients are pretty lax, then go for more outlandish designs in your stationery and let your quirkiness shine through. We’re obsessed with Imagination Illustrated’s multicoloured horoscope notebooks (that might just be our inner pisces talking here), but Natalie Lea Owen’s sprinkle covered notepad is also catching our eyes. Basically, just let your imagination run wild here.
Then again, the occasion sometimes requires you to be more meticulously prepared. If you’re in need of arts ’n’ crafts materials, then be sure to go for À la’s traditional Indian fabric scissors, or Nuukk’s eye stamp to help you leave a personal trademark on all your stationery escapades.
You never need an excuse to reach out to someone and give them a little love, but there are certain times you should be extra conscious you do.
A thank you card is a must for any well-mannered person. Depending on how well you were raised, thank you cards are a stable for after Christmas/ birthdays/ Hanukkah/ random gift giving periods. Show your appreciation with BerinMade’s pack of three thank you cards, complete with a pink backdrop and gorgeous fluttering butterflies. Or, go for Jot Paper Co’s neon greeting card set if you want to say thank you, love or hello to a loved one.
Another absolute must is the birthday card. Don’t be one of those people who just write ‘Happy Birthday!! xoxo’ on your bezzie mate’s Facebook wall - show them you care with a beautiful birthday card delivered straight to their door. BerinMade’s set of three pink birthday cards are a great choice, so too is Jot Paper Co.’s marble birthday cards with ‘Happy Birthday’ embossed in gold on the front.
Next up: Christmas. This monolithic holiday is an all-consuming reminder to make sure you show some love to your nearest and dearest. A Christmas card is a great way to do so - so go for Jot Paper Co.’s graphic Christmas card set and send your Xmas well wishes.
Finally, there’s nothing better than receiving a ‘Good Luck’ card when you’re feeling particularly nervous about something. If you know someone about to take an important exam, or getting all worked up about their first day at a new job or a new school, then Redfries’ lucky greeting cards motifs would be really appreciated.
Just remember, these are only guidelines for when you should try to send a greeting card. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t just send one when you feel. People love receiving handwritten cards in the post because it shows that person was thinking of them, so if you’ve been thinking about your long-distance S/O or BFF then show them that! BerinMade’s ‘Wild About You’ greeting card is a great one for this, so too is their ‘You Are A Gem’ cards.
If you send a lot of greeting cards (and so you should), then develop your own rememberable sign off with one of our lovely motif stamps. Nuke’s wave stamp would be great for chilled out, nautical types, whereas their cactus stamps are perfect for plant-obsessive millennials. Then again, their diamond one is a must for those with regal tendencies.
